Invited talks in Aachen and Bochum

Aachen: At RWTH Aachen University Hospital, hosted by Prof. Thomas Frodl, Joseph spoke about how AI can move psychiatry from reactive to predictive: early detection, trajectory modelling and clinically useful decision support, with less focus on black-box performance and more on validation, mechanisms and real-world utility. A highlight on the other side was Thomas Frodl’s work on volatomics, using volatile compounds in breath as biomarkers. The future of mental health is likely multimodal: language, behaviour, biology, and apparently breath.

Bochum: A great day at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, with a broad neuroscience ecosystem of basic, clinical and computational groups side by side, anchored by people like Onur Güntürkün.
